Chef’s Walk 2014

The Cumberland Valley School of Music presents the 6th Annual Chef’s Walk, June 7, from 4–7 p.m. along Alexander Avenue in Chambersburg, Pa. The walk features seven dining stations from local chefs and restaurateurs who will be preparing and serving their unique culinary delights. The menu themes include Chef Roger Tappen: “Mardi Gras”; Chef Dave Munson: “Mediterranean”; Chef Grayson Bowman: “Pacific Northwest”; Chef Melissa Young and Karin Fitz (Chestnut Landing at Menno Haven): “Tour of Napa Valley”; restaurateur Tom Boock (The Cottage): “Wings and Ribs”; and Anne Schoenhofen (The Butcher Shoppe): “French Bistro”. Joining Chef’s Walk this year is Robin Volpe, Senior Accounts Manager for Deli Brands of America, based in Baltimore, Md. Her menu theme is “New York Deli.”

In addition to the menu themes offered by each chef, Marty Boscolo, owner of Mikie’s Ice Cream and Green Cow Gift Shop in Greencastle, will serve ice cream. Pennsylvania wineries and beer distributors will offer product samples. More than 50 performers will provide non-stop live entertainment on five stages in the street. Tickets are $60 per person. Olive Garden Launches the Most Comprehensive Menu Evolution in its History

Olive Garden recently unveiled the most significant menu changes in the restaurant’s history, including more than 20 new menu items designed to broaden the choice, variety and value it offers guests, prepared with cooking techniques that accentuate new flavors. The new menus is designed to appeal to the evolving palettes and preferences of casual dining guests, while providing guests with more options to customize their meal experience.

New dinner highlights include the “Cucina Mia” section where guests can create their own entrée by choosing from six pastas and five made-from-scratch sauces for $9.99. New lighter Italian fare expands the variety on the under-575-calories menu and adds culinary-forward entrees to the chicken and seafood sections of the menu have enhanced taste from preparation on a Piastra flat-top grill for a more evenly cooked, tender and juicy taste. The Tastes of Italy section has expanded to include eight small plate dishes for guests who want to explore different flavors. Fans of Olive Garden’s signature salad can now enjoy it with the addition of antipasti or caprese toppings.

Olive Garden’s new lunch menu was created to provide busy guests with a variety of choices for a quick and satisfying meal. Guests can now add a pasta side, small plate or salad topping to the popular soup, salad and breadsticks lunch. Sandwich and flatbread combinations give guests more handheld options, served with unlimited soup or salad and breadsticks. Flying Pie Co. Closes Express Location

The Flying Pie Co. announced the closure of its Express location on John F. Kennedy drive at the beginning of March. The owners issued a statement on the Flying Pie Co. facebook page, saying, “This gives us the time to focus on what we love most; crafting delicious wood fired pies and desserts in our unique downtown atmosphere. Closing the Express location is part of our master plan to give you more of what you love downtown. And who knows, maybe even add another wood fired location.”
