Summer Shorts Writing Contest

We here at Hagerstown magazine are holding our first short story competition! Any one looking to have their work published in the magazine is welcome to submit to the “Summer Shorts” contest. The three best works of fiction will earn a place in the May/June issue of HM as well as a yet-to-be-determined prize.

Here are the basics:

Write an original fiction story of no more than 1,200 words in any genre. Test your mettle in humor, science fiction, romance, adventure, mystery, thriller, or any combination you can splice together. There’s only one other catch. The story MUST take place in Washington County — even if it’s a post apocalyptic alternate reality, there needs to be some recognizable aspect of our fair county. The staff at Hagerstown magazine will judge all entries.

The deadline for submissions is March 4, 2015. You can email submissions to mattmak@hagerstownmag.com. Alternatively, if you plan on churning out your masterpiece on an old Underwood typewriter, you can snail mail your entry to:

Now, without further ado, go get writing!
