March/April 2010 |
 |
| |
Many businesses and employees have been through a long, tough stretch — not to mention winter’s heavy blanket of snow — so HM’s March/April issue is focused on the brighter side and the coming of spring. Our “On the Job” section highlights the mission, coworkers and other factors that make a wonderful workplace. Plus, we take a look at the Leadership programs that are shaping local folks to tackle challenging issues in the community, and introduce you to some of the furry faces that light up the lives of many area business owners and their customers. Shake off your cabin fever with our suggestions for delightful day trips for families, shoppers, history buffs and more. Tour the certified wildlife habitat of Dave and Becky Morningstar — sure to be bustling with activity right about now — and learn about the many benefits of starting a running program. And don’t miss the tasty recipes shared by local men-about-the-kitchen, who dish with HM about their favorite cookbooks and what inspires them at the stove!

Blues Fest Weekend.
HM staffers got the blues in the best possible way in late May — surrounded by the wailing guitar riffs and soulful vocals of the Western Maryland Blues Fest. The team manned a booth for Saturday’s Downtown House Party and the Family Blues Picnic in Hagerstown City Park on Sunday. We handed out free magazines and answered plenty of questions about things to see and do in town — all while savoring the community atmosphere that unites locals and visitors alike in the spirit of the blues.
