Join the Maryland Wind Festival as they open their fourth annual festival with a
concert dedicated to “lyricism.”
This year, MWF will present works spanning the classical masters to a 2018
commission project premiere by composer Cassie Wieland.
The Maryland Wind Festival is a chamber music project based in the
communities of Frederick and Hagerstown. They seek to enrich the community
through high-quality performances of wind chamber music, educational
programs, and commissioning projects. Frederick serves as an ideal setting
for them as a growing city with a vibrant cultural scene and diverse audiences.
Hailing from nine states and three countries, their passionate faculty artists
bring their love for performance and years of instrumental teaching together
for an intensive week of concerts and educational outreach. In addition to
preserving the standard repertoire, MWF also aims to support the growth and
awareness of new music through engaging with composers. They aim to develop the
community by presenting performances in non-traditional spaces, and by
encouraging our audience to ask questions, interact, and view our events as
both artistic and social.
