Family Workshop: Plant a Victory Garden!
To submit your event to the calendar of events, click here.
Learn more about how people during the World Wars contributed to the war
effort: by planting their own victory gardens! These small kitchen gardens
helped feed people fresh fruits and vegetables during times of intense
rationing, and helped people feel like they were doing their patriotic duty.
Now you have a chance to make your own! We'll provide all of the materials
for you to get started with your own little victory garden: potting soil, a
pot, and seeds/plants from fruits, vegetables, or herbs actually found in
victory gardens! You'll also learn how to plant and care for your new victory
garden, and we'll have supplies for you to make your own vintage plant tag so
you know what you're growing for the cause!
Come down and enjoy the beautiful Miller House Gardens as you learn more
about life during the World Wars. All ages welcome, but children 12 & under
must be accompanied by an adult. Each $5 materials fee covers one participant
and one planting.
