Cause for Celebration at LJ's

November was a big month for LJ’s & The Kat Lounge! The restaurant celebrated its ninth anniversary November 24, just days after being named a winner of the OpenTable Diners’ Choice Award, awarded to the top 100 restaurants in the United States that specialize in American cuisine. The list of winners is derived from more than 5 million reviews submitted by OpenTable diners for more than 15,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. “We are proud to know that our diners thoroughly enjoyed their overall experience at LJ’s and recognized our entire team’s commitment to the total dining experience,” says Alexander Tiches, owner. “This could not have been achieved if it were not for our amazing team. This marks the fourth straight year of being a Top 100 Restaurant.”

From Coffeehouse and Café to Fine Dining Establishment

Highline Restaurant has evolved into the quintessential of fine dining. The beautiful restaurant located in Greencastle, Pa., started as just a coffeehouse and café. Now Highline is a destination for gastronomists in pursuit of fresh, local cuisine. The restaurant is celebrating its newly opened Railway Lounge, expanded kitchen, and patio seating. Highline Restaurant stages a wide range of events from wine and beer tastings to live music performances. On Thursday, January 30, Highline will offer a Yards Brewery Beer and Food Pairing four-course beer tasting event in the Railway Lounge from 7-9 p.m. The cost is $39 per person plus gratuity. Red Heifer Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Red Heifer Winery celebrated its one year anniversary on Sunday, October 27 with Music on the Hill, a Celebration of Wine and Spirits with live music entertainment. The winery now offers six different wines: Sweet Heifer; Catawba; Blueberry; Red Heifer White (Vidal Blanc, 3% residual sugar); Vidal Blanc, dry; and Red Heifer Red (French Oak aged Cabernet Franc). The winery is also offering a few new products, including wine infused soap. The Wild Rose Soap Co. in Shepherdstown has created three Red Heifer soaps: Blueberry, Cabernet Franc & Sandalwood, and Catawba Strawberry Poppyseed. Staying true to its Smithsburg roots, Red Heifer is selling a purple winery logo hoodie in addition to its original gray hoodie and black and red t-shirts.
