Award-Winning Hospitals
Chambersburg & Waynesboro Accumulate Accolades
In addition to earning national recognition for cardiac care and workplace excellence, Chambersburg and Waynesboro hospitals, respectively, have garnered numerous awards within their industry, including:
• VHA Inc., a national health care alliance, awarded Chambersburg and Waynesboro hospitals 2008 VHA Leadership Awards for Clinical Excellence. Chambersburg Hospital was recognized for clinical excellence and superior safety in the prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia. Waynesboro Hospital was recognized for clinical excellence in the care of the pneumonia patient.
• Chambersburg Hospital was ranked among the Top 100 hospitals evaluated nationwide for their value to the community. Cleverley + Associates gave the hospital a five-star designation for its value in three areas: financial viability and plant reinvestment, cost structure and charge structure.
• VHA recognized Waynesboro Hospital for demonstrating extraordinary levels of clinical performance in Acute Myocardial Infarction and Pneumonia Core Measure Indicators — awarding the hospital the Achieving Patient Care Excellence (APEX) award.
• Chambersburg Hospital received the APEX award for Zero MRSA Infections, Zero Catheter-related Blood Stream Infections and Zero Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia.
• Registered nurse Colleen Kylor, clinical manager of the critical care unit at Chambersburg Hospital, met a number of challenging criteria to earn selection by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) for the prestigious Circle of Excellence Leadership Award in 2008.
• United Way of Franklin County has honored both hospitals for their exemplary giving campaigns. Chambersburg Hospital received the agency’s Community Impact Award in 2007; Waynesboro Hospital earned the Gold Award that year for a 20-percent or more increase in employee giving.
